Tris(nonylphenyl) phosphite (TNPP) CAS NO: 26523-78-4 is a triarylphosphite that is synthesized through the reaction of nonylphenol with phosphorus trichloride. This reaction is highly exothermic and requires controlled addition of phosphorus trichloride to prevent runaway conditions and manage the heat of the reaction . TNPP is used as an antioxidant in polyethylene resins for food applications, but it has raised concerns due to its potential as a source of endocrine-disrupting chemicals, specifically 4-nonylphenols (4NP), upon migration into packaged foods .


Tris(nonylphenyl) phosphite CAS NO: 26523-78-4 is a synthetic compound that has been used as a fire retardant in polyvinyl chloride and in the manufacture of sodium carbonate. It is also used as an inhibitor of acetylcholinesterase, which is an enzyme responsible for breaking down acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter. Tris(nonylphenyl) phosphite has been found to be stable at high temperatures and does not produce any byproducts during its chemical reactions. Tris(nonylphenyl) phosphite can be synthesized from calcium stearate and sodium carbonate in the presence of aliphatic hydrocarbons.
