Pyridinium dichromate (PDC), molecular formula C5H4N?H2Cr2O7, a mild oxidant similar to PCC, orange-yellow crystals at room temperature, used to limit the oxidation of alcohol to aldehyde. It was invented by E.J. Corey. The reagent itself is weakly acidic, so it is often used in conjunction with buffers such as sodium acetate.
