Production of CAS: 87-51-4 Indole-3-acetic acid
Derived from the reaction of indole and glycolic acid. In a 3L stainless steel autoclave, add 270g (4.1mol) 85% potassium hydroxide, 351g (3mol) indole, and then slowly add 360g (3.3mol) 70% glycolic acid aqueous solution. Airtightly heat to 250¡ãC and stir for 18h. Cool to below 50¡ãC, add 500 365betÓéÀÖbookml water, and stir at 100¡ãC for 30 minutes to dissolve indole 3-potassium acetate. Cool to 25¡ãC, pour the contents of the autoclave into water, and add water to a total volume of 3L. Extract with 500ml ether, separate the water layer, add hydrochloric acid to acidify at 20-30¡ãC, and precipitate indole-3-acetic acid. Filter, wash in cold water, and dry in the dark to obtain 455-490g of product.
