2-Mercaptobenzothiazole (MBT) is an organosulfur compound with the formula C6H4NSCSH. The molecule consists of a benzene ring fused to a 2-mercaptothiazole ring.

 

It is a rubber vulcanization accelerator.

Mainly used in IR, NR, SBR, NBR, HR and EPDM systems.

It is currently a major acidic vulcanizing agent with medium vulcanizing speed. It can achieve higher activity when used together with other acidic vulcanizing agents such as DM and TMTD.

It has a low vulcanization temperature, is easily dispersed in rubber, and does not pollute. It is mainly used to make tires, tapes, rubber shoes and other industrial rubber products, but it cannot be used as food materials.
